Historic Mead Building Survey
Yankton County Historical Society and Dakota Territorial Museum

The Yankton County Historical Society is studying the feasibility of rehabilitating the Mead Building, which was constructed in 1909 and is just one of several unique buildings located on the Human Services Center campus in Yankton, SD. Eisenbraun and Associates entered into agreement with the Yankton County Historical Society to use our 3-D high definition laser scanner to survey the entire exterior of the Mead Building and much of the interior.
The E/A Approach
Multiple exterior and interior scans were completed and registered into a single point cloud consisting of over 70 million survey points. Intense detail is made possible through the use of the laser scanner. By using Cyclone and Cloudworx software, the firm’s CADD technicians were able to create detailed AutoCAD drawing files for use by the project architects. Detailed elevation views and floor plans were created. Manipulation of the point cloud allows sections to be cut through any element of the structure at any time in the future that it may be needed. Through the use of high resolution digital photography, various digital visualization deliverables were possible including 360º panoramic photographs.
The Outcome
E/A efficiently completed the project within the project schedule and provided CAD drawings to the project architects for their use.
