Fort Randall Dam Boundary Survey (Lake Francis Case)
near Pickstown, South Dakota

The Omaha District of the US Army Corps of Engineers requested Eisenbraun and Associates to perform over 55 miles of survey, monumentation, platting, and recording over rugged terrain of a major portion of the Lake Francis Case boundary line. The project and its requirements were multifaceted, and needed to be performed within a rigid time schedule.
The E/A Approach
During the course of the project, E/A survey crews: established over 55 miles of government boundary in 12 different areas, obtained the original Government Land Office notes and plats for over 140 sections and thoroughly researched each document, obtained and researched the public records of the Register of Deeds Office in four counties, utilized state plane coordinates on all surveys and recovered NGS, USGS, and COE horizontal and vertical control monuments, coordinated the efforts of four survey crews to accomplish the field work, surveyed over 137 miles of control net in order to relocate and re-establish sectional subdivision corners in accordance with specifications and BLM methods, maintained an average accuracy on the control net of 1:99,500, set a total of 682 monuments in the field, recovered or re-established 190 section corners and quarter section corners, prepared 17 plats to C0E specifications, filed certified Land Corner Records for all corners recovered or re-established, prepared a state plane coordinate listing for all survey points, and completed and delivered the project within the agreed time frame.
The Outcome
All survey work completed by E/A was within the Bureau of Land Management standards. Good communication and cooperation were maintained with all parties involved as the survey was successfully completed.
