Lake Audubon Boundary Survey

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers engaged Eisenbraun and Associates to conduct a boundary survey for 21.6 miles of government boundary in three different areas around Lake Audubon in central North Dakota.  The government had initially procured the land without executing a boundary survey and was now responsible for completing the survey. The federal lands included within the survey are all leased to the North Dakota Game & Fish Department for wildlife management purposes. Much of the project was managed as roadless areas and therefore limited vehicular access for our survey crews.

The E/A Approach

The boundary surveyed under this project is located in various portions of 33 different sections within three different townships. To complete the survey, it was necessary for the survey crews to recover and or reestablish 71 PLSS corners within the 33 sections. The survey was conducted in compliance with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Manual of Surveying Instructions. All survey work was completed in the North Dakota State Plane Coordinate System using NAD83 horizontal datum.

Three plats and 64 corner records were prepared in Microstation V8 format. An ESRI geodatabase was prepared using SDSFIE standards.  FGDC compliant metadata was also provided for the project.

The Outcome
Eisenbraun and Associates worked jointly with Morrison-Maierle survey crews to successfully complete this project within a very tight time frame.
