Platte Boulevard  Project 

City of Platte, South Dakota

Platte is a small but progressive community located in south central South Dakota. City officials decided that, after it served the community for some 70 years, the boulevard extending out from Main Street needed replacement. The City Council decided that the roadway be replaced with a widened concrete surface and appropriate landscaping. The project was to include replacing water and sanitary sewer utilities. Designing the project would be a challenge due to the extremely flat grades in the project area. E/A submitted a preliminary engineering report and grant application to the South Dakota Department of Transportation that resulted in project funding. E/A worked closely with all parties involved in the Platte Boulevard Project. The winter after water and sewer utilities were replaced, E/A completed the design for roadway construction. The timeline of the project was kept well in check. The following construction season, the Platte Boulevard was completed. Incoming traffic into the City now travels on a safer, and more aesthetically pleasing roadway. The City Council, with the professional service of E/A, achieved their goal of creating a showcase transportation route into the city of Platte.
